Day 1 – Welcome

Greeting on arrival in Cork airport from your Abbey Tours Guide. Depart for the historical and fashionable coastal town of Kinsale which lies only 29 km south of Cork city. Known as the ‘Gourmet Capital of Ireland’, its location ensures a plentiful supply of seafood for the town's restaurants and eateries. Visit Charles Fort, a classic example of a star-shaped fort which played an important part in Irish history in 1602, during the Battle of Kinsale. Return to Cork for late afternoon check-in to the 4 star Montenotte Hotel, overlooking the city.

 

 

Day 2 – Ring of Kerry

After breakfast travel west to Kenmare to the famous Ring of Kerry. This mystical and unspoilt region of Ireland has attracted visitors for hundreds of years, where mountains, lakes, valleys and the sea blend into a landscape that is breathtaking beyond words. Marvel at the scenery at Ladies View and Molls Gap, spectacular photographic viewing points. Onwards then to Muckross House and Gardens where there is time to walk in the beautiful gardens. The gardens are renowned world-wide for their beauty and for their fine collections of azaleas and rhododendrons. Return to Cork with evening free to explore the local restaurants and pubs.

 

 

Day 3 – Farewell

Before leaving for the airport enjoy a half day tour of the city, Europe's Cultural Capital in 2006. Visit Cork City Gaol, an imposing building which functioned as a prison from 1824 until 1923. Take a short walking tour with your guide and visit the English Market, the origins of which can be traced back to King James I in 1610. Today it offers a broad range of fish, fruit, meat and vegetables, as well as organic foods, a traditional French deli stall, an olive stall and a cheese and pasta stall.
Afternoon transfer to the Airport for departure flight home.
